Our experienced development team identify suitable land by undertaking an internal environmental impact assessment. The main areas of focus include but are not limited to: agriculture soil class and economics, acoustic impact to nearby dwellings, visual impact and local landscape, glint and glare potential, drainage and run off design, cultural heritage identification, biodiversity impact, traffic and dust design, bushfire risk mitigation, flood identification and mitigation, wetlands identification and watercourse set-backs.
About the Yanco BESS
This project aims to assist in New South Wales’s transition to cleaner energy sources and support the state’s efforts to rapidly reduce carbon emissions by ensuring a dependable and cost-effective power supply.
The proposed BESS will include containerised lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 250 MW and 1000 MW-hours of energy. It will also involve an underground or overhead transmission line to connect to the TransGrid substation, along with associated infrastructure such as storage area, internal access tracks, on-site parking, security fencing, lighting and a control building.
The project aims to create job opportunities for up to 70 individuals during construction and have the capacity to power around 80,000 homes once completed.

Planning process
While developing the Scoping Report, ACEnergy engaged with community and stakeholders through door knocking, emails, phone calls, briefings, and adverts to begin conversations about the Yanco BESS. These conversations provided insight to community views, ideas, and questions about the project.
After reviewing the Scoping Report, Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) were issued by DPHI and have identified what information needs to be included in the next stage of planning.
The next stage of the project planning process is to develop an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIS) which includes in-depth specialist reports, studies and assessment of the social, environmental and economic impacts of the project.
All available information will be publicly available on the NSW Major Projects website once they are complete.
